Suzanne Emry prieš 7 mėnesius Thank you for making this. It is very well done given the scope of the subject. The tribes mentioned are all tribes I consider (and I could be wrong) well-known. Would you possibly think of applying you skill to examine each region more deeply and talk about some of the lesser known tribes of each region? I grew up in the southwest corner of Washington and so I know a little about the Quinault and I know of the Chenault, the Chehalis, and the Hoh, but as the Quinault are (at least now) the dominant tribe, I know nothing of the latter tribes cultures. Same with the Umpqua in Northern Oregon. I have since moved out to the Cleveland, Ohio area. When I was growing up people of indiigenous decent were a minority but they were everywhere. I don't know that I have met a single person of indigenous ancestry since I have moved to this area and it really bothers me. It's horrifying to think they were utterly wiped out.

Dawn Davis prieš 4 mėnesius Jan 21, 2021 In the 1950s I was told by the elders of my family that we have Shawnee blood in us. I mostly have german in me. My european families came late 1800s. I was born in Evansville Indiana where most of my mother's family lived. Til I was 9yrs, we lived there so I went to family reunions where the old people talked. I even met my great grandma. She very so looked Native American. But I don't remember her talking much. I would not be surprised if I learned that our full blooded NA ancestor was a woman and she was made to Not talk about her Native growing up and was made to accept a white name and culture. So, of course I am not able to find her in ancestry search. Plus that part of my family did not write their history in any way, probably did not know how. ...I hope all reading this, are well and stay well in 2021.

Earl Gibbs prieš 6 mėnesius I enjoyed your video encompassing many of the American indigenous peoples. Since you included the south-central tribes/nations, adding some of the ones further to the north such as the Cree, Assiniboine, Ojibway, Dena, etc. may have helped round out the documentary as far as the entire continent is concerned. Also, reading the book Guns, Germs, and Steel by Jared Diamond would have helped explain more of the sociological dynamics of the evolution of the peoples of the Americas regarding their unique approach to the domestication of flora, fauna, and lack of old-world disease resistance.

Erica Stiller prieš 7 mėnesius Thank you for this helpful documentary. I look forward to sharing it around to inform my loved ones on the history of the Indigenous Peoples. I would suggest more diverse pictures if they can be found. Often images in the slide show showed the Lakota and Plains Nations with Buffalo skin clothing and animal hide teppees, even when discussing the other nations. I know the difference but others might not. Thanks for hearing me out. I trust your judgement on what do choose for the slideshow pictures.

A MCK prieš 1 metus (redaguota) This is pretty good stuff, however I would suggest two things; 1: The wording kinda sounds like a school essay, maybe work on building facts into larger statements and ideas rather than stating them in list format. 2: Nobody is without bias, but we must try our best to restrain them when creating documentary material. The part about the native South Americans "wasting their time" due to their religious beliefs and practices was unnecessary and comes off as bitter, kinda like r/atheism or something similar. Keep up the good work!

Brad Sillasen prieš 9 mėnesius Well done for such an ambitious attempt. The concept is wonderful but I can see the difficulty in constructing a comprehensive treatment of such a broad subject. Some peoples that you showed certainly begged more coverage, and of course some very interesting peoples received no mention. Maybe this would be better as a series but helps to have an overview such as this, however incomplete. One big take away for me is the diversity of cultures, much of that obviously owing to the ecological diversity of the immense geographical range covered.

I find his storytelling good, but precious truths misrepresented or lost completely. But anyone viewing this please learn from the elders. And don't believe everything you read aka: wounded knee. Not fact based at all.

Lucius Cornelius Sulla Felix prieš 6 mėnesius Awesome video! I loved it! A little criticism on my part lies in that you seem to over stress how much human sacrifice there was in the Aztec Empire. You have to keep in mind that the Spanish conquerors had every incentive and did to make the Aztecs look like barbaric human sacrifice practitioners. Although human sacrifice did occur with the Aztecs it was definitely overblown in scale by the Spanish. I remember reading an old Spanish chronicle (sorry the source escapes me) that the Aztecs sacrificed 100k people in the time span of a few weeks which would have been impossible for them to do at the time. In my humble opinion the scale of human sacrifice could have been similar to the scale and served a similar purpose akin to how the Romans "sacrificed" (ironic because the Romans scoffed at human sacrifice) criminals, war captives, and political zealots in the colosseums for the viewing pleasure of the masses or at the end of Roman Triumphs; or how Western European countries publicly executed similar people in front of masses. Don't take my criticism harshly because I loved your video and videos!

James Bogard prieš 10 mėnesių This documentary could've been really good if their weren't so many inaccuracies . 1. Tenochtitlan was not an Olmec city, it was the Aztec capital thousands of years later. 2. Teotihuacan was not an Aztec city. The Aztec made religious pilgrimages to the city because they thought it was from there the gods created the universe, but the city was abandoned around the 6th century AD, roughly 800 years before the Aztec Empire. 3. Referring to the Maya you state their favorite "form of sacrifice was heart extraction" modeled after the Aztec. The Maya pre-dated the Aztec by several centuries. The Aztec met their demise by the hands of Europeans, but the Maya had already met their decline well before Columbus's first voyage. Therefore the Aztec could've inherited heart extraction from the Maya, but not the other way around. 4. The Iroqouis inhabited the northeast not the northwest. You refer to them as living in the northwest twice. They lived in present-day northwest New York, but overall they were a confederation from the northeast. 5. The statement "before the arrival of Europeans horses did not inhabit the Americas" is not accurate. Horses lived on the North American continent contemporaneous Native Americans for almost 10,000 years until they went extinct after the last Ice Age. This is why the American Mustang is not viewed as an invasive species. I commend you on putting together your own documentary! And I would encourage you to continue doing them. I enjoyed watching this (minus the ads every 3 minutes). The footage, scenery, and art are done really well. My criticisms are purely factual and nothing that is really left up to debate, so I would check and double check your facts and narration as you continue. I wish you the best!!

Criticism, ridicule and negativity are a big part of native culture. No matter what tribe. And I am very sad to say that. Ty for your work. Appreciated.

THESE TRIBES HAD A WEALTH OF CULTURE AND TRADITIONS THAT WERE FAMOUS IN THE WEST. START INCLUDING MORE OF THE NATIVE CULTURES OF THE WEST AS WELL AS THE COASTAL AREAS OF THE UNITED STATES. BEAUTIFUL COLOR PHOTOGRAPHY, GREAT STORIES, BUT NOT LONG ENOUGH TO DO JUSTICE TO THE INDIAN CULTURES YOU REPRESENTED.
