It's pretty cool looking at the 400-year evolution of the US soldier. Even the salute has evolved, nowadays (unlike back then) the proper salute insists on not exposing the palm.
If you ever get the chance it would be interesting (in my opinion) to see the evolution of the US Marine Corps uniforms from 1775 until current day.

watching this video made 1 thing clear to me, countries didnt design military uniform with the intent of soldiers surviving. no matter the time of war, every gear basically had no defense to a bullet or lethal blade. if they did design uniforms with lethal protection, alot of soldiers would still be alive an would be owed hella money... something most governments DONOT want to pay out

You did something wrong with some uniforms. For start with the early Vietnam War uniform. You can't wear two different division sleeves. It is either the 1st cavalry division or the 2nd infantry division and it's always on the left sleeve. With the 101st airborne division I'm missing the deck of cards insignia. From the WW2 uniform and onwards you don't have the American Flag sleeve on the right sleeve.

With few exceptions, American Army uniforms in general prior to 1936 followed British military fashion; the principal difference coming from using blue instead of red, and the necessity of a modest government providing a simple and inexpensive uniform fit for service on the frontier...U.S. troops wore undress/service dress uniforms in the field and in frontier posts from the 1830s onward, while the British officially kept the review order uniform in the field far longer, at least into the 1890s for most troops outside of the North-West frontier of India.
A major exception was the period 1851-1874, when the fashionable French style was deemed more practical.
Another exception was the 1890s use of the blue shirt for field use, but after 1902 the khaki uniform was adopted.

My family's service runs from Antietam and Shiloh thru Ypres and St. Mihael, thru the Sigfried Line and the Ruhr, thru the Punchbowl and Operation Arc Light to the Fulda Gap. I retired after 22 years in the regular Army and my brother retired after 30 years in the regular Air Force and the AFNG.
I didn't dream I'd tear up as much as I did watching this video. Great job. Thank you.

The Vietnam war and ww2 American military uniforms are my favorite also the modern day
Their uniforms fit them because the american military is fearless, strong, falls back but retreats rarely, and when some shit goes down

They look intimidating

Ww1 uniform was a derivative of the british infantry and the first couple as the american army used pieces of british clothing to kick start their millitary or millitia as they didnt have supplies yet i think thats what the history channel said

The colonial militia was set up at the Virginia House of Burgesses. that's Old Dominion. But technically you're supposed to have a Spanish tercio Soldier because that was insane Augustine and it's the oldest place on East Coast. not to mention on the West Coast the mission plan was already set into motion. So either have a fort, or a civil plan. Which are both older than the House of Burgesses, but all came from the old Spanish Empire that moved from Protestant lands after the Protestant Reformation. Yeah here we are. That's why the Dutch are awesome. Why do you think we went with them? The Spanish were the empire, and the Empire is the Empire , but it's like our parents house, or with the Dutch it's more like an uncle. Understand? He's been our uncle from way before that. Anyway I love history peace it's amazing. I couldn't believe you went further back all the way to the Colonial militia. Wow

4:36 If anyone us woundering why the 29th infantry has the Ying-Yang symbol on their uniforms it is because the 29th was made up predominantly of men whose grandfathers fought in the American Civil War for either side. It represents these men coming together when their ancestors fought and killed eachother. The Blue represents the Union and Grey represents the Confederacy.
