First they would memorize them and chant them by heart to be taught poetry and music and re-enact them in their games and plays, then they would copy them to be taught spelling, grammar, and syntax, and later on, for each of their different stories they were asked questions about morals, ethics, philosophy, and many other subjects. Grown ups could find a wealth of information in them too in subjects like navigation, astronomy, geography – the list is really endless. You see, Homer’s works weren’t meant just for “entertainment”. Of course most people feel they are tons of fun as a first impression. But were you to take the time to really ponder on the issues they present, you might discover things about yourself, others, and perhaps an entire universe of other things, with no “teacher” or “professor” or anybody else for that matter forcing their personal views, or even agendas down your throat on you. I am not talking about Hollywood here -- I am talking about the source prototypes. These are works providing you with a chance to self-develop according to your own free will and judgment which is exactly what makes them the invaluable timeless classics they are, and the creators of really free-thinking people. The moment you allow anybody else, other than your very own self, to interpret them in any way to you – their magic vanishes.

Even if it's not recent, with all these famous names in the cast, and such an awesome screenplay, it's really worth to be watched and re-watched ! Besides, Vanessa Williams was a real Beauty !!! wow ! Homer was calling his hero Odysseus, a "wise-tricky" man (or the contrary : tricky-wise.... can't remember...) Many thanks for this upload!
