Fernando van Heest prieš 4 dienas This is not an action movie, but a realistic film about soldiers life in Afghanistan in this case Kamp Holland. I was in Kamp Holland from 2008 to 2211 and this film is true. The soldiers were shot at but hardly allowed to shoot back. ( That is fucking political) Wij zijn menig maal beschoten in het Kamp vanuit de bergen, dan gingen die Apache Helicopters de lucht in. Maar die mochten niets doen tot dat ze bericht kregen, en dan was het te laat en zaten die Taliban Gluiperds tussen de mensen. Ik heb daar in die drie jaar 8 goede vrienden verloren. Het is natuurlijk bij de wilde konijnen af dat als er op je geschoten word je niet terug mag schieten, doe je het toch moet je op het matje komen. Die eikels van de regering zouden daar eens drie jaar moeten gaan zitten, dan leren ze tenminste wat. Ik heb ook geen flauw idee wat we daar nou eigenlijk gedaan hebben, wel weet ik dat die 8 jongens nooit meer terug komen. Welte ruste mijnheer de president.

John Z prieš 3 mėnesius Firstly I will say I was a US Army Artillery Officer 1967 thru 1973 so I know how military works. Fast forward to 2009. As an American construction manager working for AFFCEE I was at Kamp Holland March 2009 thru July 2010. My job was to build a base for the Afghani Special Forces. I spent many, many evenings with the Dutch soldiers in their DFAC and their very nice MWR. I lived in Camp Ripley with the American Special Forces until we got our own LSA constructed just outside Camp Ripley a few hundred meters away from Kamp Holland. I talked with the Dutch Base Commandant numerous times in the early phases of the Afghani base construction coordinating materials shipments into the base. Base security was extremely strict as it needed to be. Both the Dutch and American military were extremely helpful supporting our construction of that base for the Afghani's. There were numerous scenes in this movie I could confirm as being pretty much accurate BUT the portrayal of the Dutch Sargant Mulder refusing to give permission to fire in those depicted situations IMHO is 100% BS, NEVER WOULD HAVE BEEN THAT WAY, especially considering the extreme loss's of Dutch soldiers during their occupation of Kamp Holland. As many vets who have posted their thoughts about this movie, when a squad has been engaged you FIGHT, you aren't asking permission to fire during the battle. Shown a couple of times in this video a vehicle approaching the camp gate were warned with 50 cal. machine gun fire into the ground once. If the vehicle did not slow and stop the second shots were thru the engine block. If the occupants refused to comply the next rounds were KILLING shots. As was stated, most of the locals were just Afghani's going about their business however there were Taliban who would strap explosives to themselves and if allowed entry would set the charges off in the front gate. They could not afford to take a chance. Geneva Convention Rules of Engagement do not prohibit Allied Forces protecting themselves OR a local village as was shown @44:00 thru 46:10. That part of this story line is complete crap. Allied Forces reasons for being in Iraq and Afghanistan was to help train the local military, their police, to help protect innocent civilians, to build and rebuild infrastructure and to train locals to take care of them.

Military Man 71 prieš 4 mėnesius I trained Dutch soldiers in Germany. If they weren't smoking hashish, they were drinking. I served 3 combat tours, Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan. In real life, you do not wait for permission to engage, once you are attacked, or have targets of opportunity! You hesitate, you die!

Robert prieš 4 mėnesius Surely this is unrealistic. With one soldier killed and the another wounded from an IED/rocket, retaliation is demanded. The perceived enemy keeps approaching despite calls to identify himself. Is this a true reflection of Dutch soldiery, or just another 3rd rate movie?

Cary Coller prieš 3 mėnesius (redaguota) I'm glad I served in the US Army. We certainly have rules of engagement, but in thatsame situation it would be clearly understood why he fired his weapon. If I had to go through all that scrutiny I'd ask to be sent home, because command would have to understand that I'm going to defend myself, and my soldiers, on every patrol. No doubt about that.

Not accurate at all, he would have been transported to Camp Bastion's British hospital, the largest, most advanced and most fully staffed medical doctors to stabilize him for return to Holland.
