Douglas MCArthur in fulfilling his promise,,rest in peace honorable General,,you & all your gallant soldiers are loved by millions of filipinos.. Hank Justice prieš 6 metus What high command gave orders to burn Manila? Gen Tomoyuki Yamashita was in charge as head of the 14th Area Army and ordered them to stand down and evacuate the city. His death sentence from the Supreme Court's decision, rendered in February 1946, while articulating a clear standard for military commanders with respect to the actions of their subordinates, trampled his rights as an accused. In responding to General Yamashita's assertion that he did not personally participate in or order the commission of these offenses, the Court described the heart of the charge as being "an unlawful breach of duty by [General Yamashita] as an army commander to control the operations of members of his command by 'permitting them to commit' the extensive and widespread atrocities." This was wrongfully applied to him. Why? Because: 1. He had never met the men who committed the atrocities 2. His command was split by our advancing forces, it was impossible for him to control them 3. Another commander ignored his orders (actually hated him) and massacred the civilians in Manila even after being ordered to stand down and evacuate the city. So, he was hung because war prevented his direct control of men he had never met. This was construed as his permitting them or allowing them to commit these atrocities. How incredibly stupid. The protection of the accused, in this case, was trampled by MacArthur.

The Philippines at that time was already liberated, was already an independent state, no need to liberate any. First republic of Philippines was destroyed by the US in 1901, the US was also trying to destroy the second one established in 1943 again as well as the first one, and trying to colonize it again

They ate leaves the entire war. Sometimes bananas. Some of them risked their lives to get food. Fortunately, none of them during the war. After the war, the soldiers helped them. All of them are dead except for some. RIP Filipino and American soldiers.

The Americans also knew its strategic value, prior to the Japanese invasion, the US were already constructing massive fortifications and coastal defenses for the Philippines. Tiny islands called Corrigidor and El Fraile (Fort Drum) are a testament to that. Now, China has the Philippines in its scope. After almost a century have passed since WW2 and the Philippines, although very strategic and valuable for Asiatic control, still have almost no credible defensive posture. Who gives more value to the Philippines? Its people or other countries that wants to use its potential? Mabuhay and Salamat to all the USAFFE (United States Army Forces Far East) and Filipino Guerrillas who selflessly sacrificed life, blood, sweat, and tears, for the Filipinos in WW2!
