Jamie R prieš 3 savaites Reminds me of a flight when I saw what looked like oil pouring out of the one engine in a 2 engine passenger plane. I called the stewardess who called the co-pilot. He assured me that nothing was wrong but please dont tell other passengers and can your colleague please go watch the other engine. Not exactly encouranging. Scariest flight was on Air Cameroon coming into land in Douala airport during the Sahara dust cloud that covers that part of the continent. We came through the dust above the airport low enough to see people. I expected the plane to circle around to land. After about 20 minutes and getting low enough over the jungle I could see birds in the trees low enough, when I called for s steward and asked him where we planned on landing? He said Douala airport. I informed him we passed that 20 minutes ago. He went to the cockpit and shortly after the engines went to full throttle and the plane pulled up and did a bank to the the direction we had come from. They had missed the airport totally. Flying in Africa was a challenge to say the least

The plane, a small cesna, belonged to a local skydiving club, the one my uncle was a member of, when the day came they had had a birdstrike, so the wing had some gaffers tape on it to mend the slight damage, my uncle was soldering the radio switch and the plane's starter motor had failed, so they had to start the engine by pulling the propeller, lovely way to settle your nerves. But the flight and jump went perfectly.
